CIB awards Art Spaces $450,000 for Turn to River project

Tribune-Star - Wabash Valley Art Spaces was awarded $450,000 Wednesday from the Vigo County Capital Improvement Board toward Phase II and Phase III of the Turn to the River project. The funding will enable Art Spaces to meet its required 3-to-1 match to obtain a $150,000 READI — Regional Economic Acceleration and Development Initiative — state grant.

“We’re in a better place, it’s not rampant and we’re not hearing about the severe illness and death,” said Wabash Valley Health Center CEO Charlie Welker. “But we can’t let our guard down as we get into winter; we certainly wouldn’t be surprised if we saw a spike in (COVID-19) cases.”

Terre Haute Convention Center off to good start

Tribune-Star - More than 6,500 people have visited the downtown Terre Haute Convention Center from its opening in April through the end of August.

While July was a slow month, which is typical for convention centers, August was “a good month,” said Tennille Wanner, OVG 360’s general manager of the Terre Haute Convention Center. OVG 360 is contracted to manage the facility for the Vigo County Capital Improvement Board.
